The highest temperature of 43 degrees Celsius during this season in the country was recorded in Chuadanga on Monday (29 April), according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

"Geographically, the location of Chuadanga district is close to the Tropic of Cancer. As a result, the temperature in the district in higher during summer. Apart from this, the surrounding districts in India including West Bengal and Chuadanga are plains," said Chuadanga meteorological observatory offiical Jaminur Rahman.

"We are noticing that Chuadanga is not getting normal rainfall in April. Temperatures have been rising due to the absence of rain in April. Apart from this, the district does not have enough reservoirs. Water from the reservoir rises in the form of water vapour to form clouds," he added.

Meanwhile, after mild to moderate and severe heatwaves throughout April, Chuadanga is now experiencing very intense heatwaves.

The condition of working people including agricultural workers is dire due to intense heat.

In many places, the road carpeting is melting causing traffic problems.

Earlier, a record temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga.
