Amid the severe heat wave sweeping across the country, Dhaka is likely to be scorched by temperatures above 40-41°C on Monday (29 April), said Meteorologist Mostofa Kamal Palash, weather and climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.
“Temperatures are predicted to hit 42-43°C in Jashore, Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, Khulna, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, and Pabna districts,” Mostofa Kamal Palash said in a post on his social media handle.
The highest temperature in Dhaka was recorded in 1960 - 42.3°C.
On 20 April this year, the capital recorded the second-highest temperature of 40.4°C in 64 years.
The highest temperature ever recorded in Bangladesh was 45.1°C on 15 May 1972 in Rajshahi.
