Jill Stein, US Green Party presidential candidate, along with her two associates, was arrested on Saturday during a pro-Palestinian protest at Washington University, as reported by Stein's X account, which shared a video of her arrest.
“We’re going to stand here in solidarity with the students who are advocating for democracy, human rights, and an end to genocide,” Stein stated before her arrest.
Jill Stein’s campaign spokesperson said "We are not aware of any charges at this time," reports CNN.
Stein attended the protest to show support for students who had established an encampment, insisting they would not disband until Washington University divested from Boeing and boycotted Israeli academic institutions, among other demands.
David Schwab, communications director for Jill Stein for President, explained that Stein had attempted to defuse tensions between protestors and police Saturday afternoon. However, the police were unresponsive and began making arrests shortly afterward.
Stein’s campaign manager and deputy campaign manager were also taken into custody.
