Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali visited the area adjacent to the Naf River in Teknaf on Sunday (21 April) to monitor the activities of the border force in the border areas.

Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer, Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi, shared this development with the media today.

He said, "Due to the unstable situation inside Myanmar, the Myanmar army, BGP, and civilian members often attempt to enter Bangladesh through the Ghumdhum and Tumbru borders of Naikkhongchhari upazila of Bandarban. The recent ongoing conflict between the Myanmar Army and the Arakan Army has led to various attempts to take advantage of the prevailing volatile situation, including human trafficking, smuggling, and drug smuggling. Consequently, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has maintained a strong presence in the Naf River and adjacent areas, as well as other coastal areas, through modern high-speed boats and patrol vessels."

He further mentioned that members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard are always vigilant through regular patrolling in the border areas.
