Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud has announced that 285 members of the Border Guard Police (BGP) and Army who had taken refuge in Bangladesh will be repatriated to Myanmar via sea route on 22 April. 

Additionally, the foreign minister said that 150 Bangladeshi citizens detained in Myanmar will also be repatriated via ship. 

Hasan Mahmud disclosed this information while speaking with reporters following a book inauguration program on Friday (19 April). 

"We have discussed with our counterparts in Myanmar. They will send a ship to retrieve their soldiers and BGP members. Moreover, the same ship will facilitate the repatriation of the detained 150 Bangladeshi citizens," he said.

The foreign minister also said, “We discussed with the Greek foreign minister about sending manpower to the country. Additionally, Greece has shown interest in establishing an embassy in Bangladesh.”
