1 killed as bus rams into Dhaka airport's 3rd terminal

At least one person has been killed as Raida Paribahan bus rammed into the boundary of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The incident took place at around 10am on Friday (19 April), Airport Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Suman Chandra Das said.

"Around 10 am today, a Raida Paribahan bus lost control and broke through the security boundary of the third terminal. At that time, Maidul Islam Siddiqui, a senior assistant engineer in Civil Aviation, was riding a motorcycle on the road. His motorcycle was run down by the Raida Paribahan bus. Later he was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital with serious injuries," he added.

Police said the engineer was declared dead on arrival.

Driver and helper of the bus involved in the incident escaped but the bus has been impounded, police added.

Legal proceedings in this regard are ongoing.
