Joint forces have arrested two active members of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) from Bethel Para in Ruma upazila of Bandarban during the ongoing joint operation against extremists following recent bank robberies and attacks by insurgent groups.

The two KNF members were arrested on Monday (8 April), reads a statement issued by Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR).

The joint forces, comprising Army, RAB, BGB, and Police, also recovered seven homemade firearms, 20 rounds of ammunition, a laptop, uniform, and boots from their possession.

Earlier, Police has arrested three members of KNF and a car driver from Thanchi, Bandarban Additional Superintendent of Police Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi said.

Yesterday, Army chief SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said some extremists were arrested during the joint operation.

He also informed the media about the seizure of weapons from them.

On Sunday (7 April), the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested KNF's chief coordinator in Bandarban Cheosim Bom, 55.

He is a close associate of KNF chief Nathan Bom, RAB said.
