The government wants to import sacrificial animals from Brazil for Eid-ul-Adha, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said on Sunday (7 April).

“Brazil is interested in exporting meat products to Bangladesh at reasonable prices. However, Bangladesh has proposed importing animals instead of meat products from the Latin American country,” the state minister informed reporters after a courtesy call by Brazil's Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.

In addition to the import proposal, the minister said the Brazilian minister was requested to offer duty-free export facilities for Bangladeshi garments.

Earlier in the morning, the Brazilian foreign minister arrived in Dhaka for a 2-day visit.
