Enhanced security measures taken for Durga Puja: Home affairs adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury assured that this year’s Durga Puja will be held in a peaceful and secure manner, with enhanced security measures in place until 13 October, and continued vigilance across the country.

tate Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, Durga Puja, will be celebrated this year with utmost security and peace.

"Special security measures will remain in place until the 13th of October, the day of Dashami, and national security will continue to be upheld even beyond this period," he said while visiting the Puja mandap at the Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital on Thursday (10 October).

He stated that adequate armed forces have been deployed wherever necessary, in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Home Affairs, which has issued an eight-point directive.

"Efforts are underway to maintain law and order as per these instructions," the adviser said.

“It is our responsibility to ensure the safety of every citizen of Bangladesh. The people of this country will remain safe 365 days a year. The occasional incidents that occur are isolated cases," he added.
