Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has lauded the Bangladesh Army for standing by the people during the nation’s critical juncture.

"Army expedited the process of forming an interim government, thus rescuing the country from a period of instability. As a result, the Bangladesh Army has once again been recognised as a symbol of trust for the people," the chief adviser said while inaugurating the selection board at the Army Headquarters, where he attended as the chief guest on Sunday (6 October).

Welcoming everyone to the newly emerging Bangladesh, born from the revolution of students, workers, and the masses, Dr Yunus paid deep homage to those who lost their lives during the anti-discrimination student movement in July and August.

He also remembered with reverence the brave soldiers of the Armed Forces, particularly the martyrs of the Army, whose sacrifices in the Great Liberation War will forever be honoured by the nation.

Dr Yunus reiterated that the Army had stood beside the nation during a time of crisis, accelerating the formation of an interim government and averting instability.

Consequently, the Bangladesh Army has once again solidified its position as a trusted institution in the eyes of the people.

Upon his arrival at the venue, the Chief Advisor was warmly received by General Waker-uz-Zaman, chief of Army Staff. The event was also attended by senior military officers and the defence secretary.
