The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has reported that scattered rainfall will continue intermittently across various parts of the country until 12 October.

However, despite the ongoing rain, temperatures are not expected to drop significantly.

While there will be varying levels of rainfall in different regions until 12 October, it will not be as intense as the rainfall experienced over the past few days. After the 12th, rainfall is expected to cease entirely, said Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque.

“There will be rain in several parts of the country today, especially in Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram, where heavier downpours are expected. Tomorrow, Mymensingh will likely experience rainfall, and from tomorrow onwards, rain will persist in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram. This pattern will continue until 8th or 9th October, with isolated rain occurring until the 12th. After that, we can expect the monsoon season to end, and we will enter the post-monsoon season, which generally sees little to no rainfall,” he explained.

He further mentioned that the maritime warning that had been in effect has now been lifted. River ports were also given temporary signals, usually effective for around six hours, with only two to three hours of actual impact.

When asked if the heat would increase after the rains subside, he clarified that this particular rainfall does not significantly affect temperatures.

“Since this rain has little impact on temperatures, the heat is neither expected to increase nor decrease notably after the rain tapers off,” he said.

In response to whether rainfall would continue during the Puja celebrations, Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque noted that scattered rain across various parts of the country is possible until 12th October, which could affect some Puja activities.
