A gas cylinder explosion at a biryani restaurant in Keraniganj killed three people and injured ten others, with firefighters working to control the resulting fire

A devastating gas cylinder explosion at a restaurant in Rohitpur Boarding Market, Keraniganj, claimed the lives of three individuals and left ten others injured on the evening of Saturday (5 October).

The explosion, which occurred at approximately 7:30pm at a local biryani restaurant named "Mayel," triggered an immediate fire following the blast.

Eyewitnesses reported that a deafening noise was heard as the gas cylinder exploded, swiftly igniting the premises.

Local residents rushed to rescue the injured and transported them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.

Keraniganj Fire Station Officer Md Kajol Mia confirmed the recovery of three bodies from the scene of the fire.

“We are still working to control the blaze,” he added, indicating the fire brigade's ongoing efforts to bring the situation under control.

Further investigations into the cause of the explosion are underway, and authorities have yet to provide an estimate of the damage caused to the market.
