Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will deliver an address in Bangla at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Friday (27 September).
His speech is scheduled to take place in the General Assembly Hall at the UN Headquarters in New York at 10:00am local time, which corresponds to 8:00pm Bangladesh time.
According to sources, Dr Yunus will outline the background of Bangladesh's recent popular uprising and the circumstances under which he assumed the role of Interim chief adviser.
He will also elaborate on the initiatives he has undertaken to reform the state.
In his address, Dr Yunus will call upon the global community to support the rebuilding of Bangladesh following the student-led revolution, offering a vision for the complete transformation of the country’s existing state structures and institutions.
He will present a framework to the international community for unlocking new possibilities in the reformed Bangladesh.
Additionally, Dr Yunus is expected to appeal for immediate international action to halt the genocide in Palestine and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
He will also seek global cooperation in resolving the Rohingya crisis.
Other topics of his speech will include climate change, inclusive economic development, and other regional and global issues.
The central theme of this year’s debate at the 79th UN General Assembly is "No One Left Behind: Working Together for Peace, Sustainable Development, and Advancing Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations".
The 79th session of the General Assembly, which commenced on 10 September with a focus on resolving global conflicts, will conclude on 30 September after gathering world leaders.
Dr Yunus arrived in New York on 24th September to participate in the session and is expected to return to Dhaka following the conclusion of his three-day visit.
