Shakib Al Hasan has officially declared his retirement from both Test and T20 international cricket.
The announcement was made on Thursday (26 September) during a press conference held prior to the Test match against India in Kanpur, according to a report by the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
"If selected, the home series against South Africa will be my final appearance in Test cricket," Shakib stated during the press briefing.
Shakib is expected to feature in the Test series against South Africa in October before stepping away from the sport's longest format and T20s, marking the end of an illustrious chapter in his international career.
