Three people were killed and nine others, including women and children, were injured in lightning strikes in Thakurgaon on Tuesday afternoon. The incidents occurred in Sadar Upazila and Baliadangi Upazila as heavy rain followed a heatwave in the region.
The deceased have been identified as Ariful Islam (17) and Monir Islam (28) from Sadar Upazila, and Ataur Rahman (23) from Baliadangi Upazila.
Dr. Md. Rokibul Alam Chayan, the Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital, confirmed the fatalities. "The injured and deceased from the lightning strike were brought to the hospital. The bodies of the three deceased have been handed over to their families, and the injured are receiving necessary medical treatment," he said.
