Dr. Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, has announced that migrant workers will soon receive VIP services at airports. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to improving airport services for returning migrant workers.

“Migrant workers will receive most of the services enjoyed by VIPs at airports, except for lounge access. When a VIP travels through the airport, they have someone to assist with luggage, check-in, and immigration processes. We aim to offer similar services to migrant workers. Initially, we are targeting workers returning from the Middle East, followed by those from Europe,” Asif Nazrul said during a briefing on Tuesday (September 24) at the Ministry’s office in Dhaka.

He further mentioned that airport services have already seen improvements, and this initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the experience for migrant workers. "Within the next two weeks to a month, we will ensure that migrant workers no longer feel helpless upon arriving at the airport. Clear instructions will be provided regarding gate access, check-in procedures, form filling, and immigration. The expatriates' welfare desk at the airport will assist them with these processes," Dr. Nazrul stated.

He also highlighted future plans to provide airport lounge access for migrant workers but emphasized that the immediate priority is to eliminate any potential harassment or mistreatment they might face. The government will maintain a zero-tolerance policy for such incidents.

This initiative is expected to be fully implemented within the next two weeks to a month.
