In a demand for three months of unpaid wages, workers from Seasons Dresses Limited, a garment factory located in Ershad Nagar of Tongi blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, leading to a two-hour disruption of traffic.

The protest began when the workers, frustrated by months of unmet promises from factory authorities, staged a demonstration on the highway at around 9:00am on Monday (23 September), said Gazipur Industrial Police ASP (Tongi Zone) Mosharraf Hossain.

"The workers had maintained their blockade until 11:00am. Efforts are currently underway to engage with the factory owners to resolve the matter through dialogue," he added.

According to the workers, they have not been paid for three months, and overtime dues for February and March of this year, along with three years' worth of leave compensation, remain outstanding.

Despite multiple assurances from management, the workers claim that their grievances have been repeatedly ignored.

On Monday morning, the employees arrived at the factory and demanded their wages.

When their requests were not met, they initiated a strike and proceeded to block the highway in protest, causing significant disruption for commuters.
