The bilateral meeting between Chief Adviser of Interim Government of Bangladesh Dr Muhammad Yunus and US President Joe Biden is set to be held during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In the last three decades, there has been no meeting of the US President with any top leader of Bangladesh on the sidelines of the UN session.

The top leaders of Bangladesh and the United States will hold a meeting at the United Nations Headquarters at noon on 24 September New York local time.

A source at the policy-making level of the Interim Government confirmed the matter on Saturday (21 September) evening.

During his stay in New York, he also said the chief adviser is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of the Netherlands, Pakistan, and Nepal.

Besides, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President of the European Union, UN Secretary-General, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, President of the World Bank, and USAID Administrator will call on Prof Yunus to have bilateral talks.

However, there will be no meeting between Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, as the two leaders' schedules do not align.
