A total of 22,000 people were injured, with 587 suffering permanent disabilities or amputations

At least 1,423 people have been martyred during the July-August uprising, according to Tarekul Islam, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement and member secretary of the central health subcommittee. 

Tarequl disclosed this information in a media briefing late Friday night (September 20) through social media. 

"A total of 22,000 people were injured, with 587 suffering permanent disabilities or amputations. Additionally, 685 individuals sustained severe eye injuries, of whom 92 have permanently lost their vision in both eyes," Tarequl said. 

He also stated that both the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation and the government would separately provide financial assistance to the families of the martyrs and the injured.

The government has initially decided to offer Tk 800,000 in compensation to the families of the martyrs, while the injured may receive up to Tk 400,000 each.
