In light of several incidents across the country where individuals have been killed in mob violence under the guise of mob justice, Bangladesh Police have called on citizens not to take the law into their own hands.

In a press release issued by the Police Headquarters, the force affirmed their determination to take stringent measures against those who resort to such unlawful actions.

The notice emphasised that if any person commits a wrongdoing or is involved in criminal activity, there are provisions under the existing laws of the country to ensure justice. No one has the right to act outside the legal framework by taking the law into their own hands. Individuals who witness wrongdoing or criminal acts must hand over the offenders to the authorities; under no circumstances should vigilante action be taken.

Furthermore, the public has been encouraged to report any criminal activity by contacting the national emergency service at 999 or by reaching out to the nearest police station.

The Police Headquarters also appealed to all law-abiding citizens to cooperate in preventing a recurrence of mob justice or any similar incidents.
