The unrest in RMG factories in Ashulia, which persisted for several consecutive days, has finally subsided, with normal operations resuming in most factories.

"A majority of workers have returned to their duties within the scheduled hours; of the factories, 6 are currently observing general holidays, while 16 are closed in accordance with Section 13(1) of the Bangladesh Labour Act," said Superintendent of Industrial Police-1, Sarwar Alam on Thursday (19 September).

Since the beginning of the week, the overall situation in this industrial area has been gradually returning to normal.

According to the Industrial Police, all factories except for 22 are now operational, with workers spontaneously engaging in their work.

To maintain control over the situation, additional security personnel have been deployed, and surveillance has been intensified.

No reports of any untoward incidents have been received.

The Industrial Police stated that discussions with factory owners and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) are ongoing to reopen the factories that remain closed.

Workers have expressed their eagerness to return to work, and the commotion outside these factories stems from their desire to resume their jobs. It is expected that any minor issues can be resolved through dialogue once the factories are reopened.

Superintendent Sarwar Alam of Industrial Police-1 noted that, so far, the overall situation remains stable, with all operational factories running smoothly and workers engaged in their duties.

Additionally, he confirmed that 16 factories are closed under Section 13(1) of the Bangladesh Labour Act 2006, and six are observing general holidays.

To ensure the security of the industrial zone, law enforcement officers have been stationed outside various factories, while joint forces continue their patrol operations.
