World Bank Vice President for the South Asia Region Martin Raiser has arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday (18 September) for a two-day visit.
During his visit, Raiser is scheduled to meet with the chief adviser, the finance adviser, the energy adviser, the governor of Bangladesh Bank, and other senior government officials, said a press release.
World Bank was one of the first development partners to extend support to Bangladesh following its independence.
To date, the institution has committed approximately $44 billion to the country, predominantly in the form of grants and concessional credits.
Bangladesh currently benefits from the largest ongoing programme funded by the World Bank Group’s International Development Association (IDA).
