Youth and Sports and Labour Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has stated that those in the interim government have no ambitions for power.
Addressing the ongoing rumours regarding the formation of a political party, he clarified, "We have made it clear before, and I reiterate that we have no intention of forming a political party at this time."
He made these remarks on Tuesday (17 September) during the inauguration ceremony of the National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety Research and Training at the Department of Factories and Establishments Inspection in the Terokhadia area of Rajshahi.
He further emphasised that those in the interim government have professional lives to return to.
"Our primary goal is to fulfil the responsibility entrusted to us by the people through the popular uprising. We aim to reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people and hand over power to a democratic government through an election," he added.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Abdur Rahim Khan, director general of the Department of Factories and Establishments Inspection.
Special guests included AHM Shafiquzzaman, Secretary to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and Tuomo Poutiainen, Country Director of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
The newly constructed National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety Research and Training in Rajshahi, built at a cost of Tk133 crore, is set to become a significant centre for occupational health and safety in South Asia.
It will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe working environment in the country's industries and enhancing the productivity of workers.
