Bangladesh and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have signed a sixth amendment to their Development Objective Grant Agreement, adding $200 million to support democracy, human rights, and economic development

Bangladesh and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have signed the sixth amendment to the Development Objective Grant Agreement (DOAG).

The agreement was formalised following a meeting with the US delegation on Sunday (15 September), said a press release.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed stated that discussions covered financial transactions, market operations, and the issue of repatriated funds.

The new agreement adds an additional $200 million to the previous contract.

Meanwhile, USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Anjali Kaur affirmed that the United States will continue to collaborate with Bangladesh.

She highlighted that the additional $200 million will be used to further advance democracy, human rights, societal, and economic development in the country.
