Due to the influence of a land depression, Bangladesh has experienced continuous rainfall for the past two days.
The depression, formed over the Bay of Bengal, made landfall via the coast and has inflicted the most significant damage on Cox's Bazar.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the weather pattern may persist on Sunday (15 September) as well.
As of 6:00am on Sunday, Dhaka recorded 32 millimetres of rainfall, while Patuakhali experienced the highest rainfall in the country at 223 millimetres during the same period.
Meteorologist Md Shahinul Islam stated that rain would continue across Dhaka and the rest of the country on 15 September.
However, it may begin to subside from Monday. The cautionary signals at seaports remain in effect.
Meanwhile, the persistent rainfall has severely disrupted public life across the country.
Heavy downpours have submerged various regions, leaving millions of people stranded by floodwaters. In many areas, people are once again seeking refuge in relief centres.
The situation is further aggravated by strong winds and frequent power outages.
The forecast for the 24 hours from 6:00am on 15 September, predicts light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds in many parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, and at some locations in Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.
Additionally, there may be moderate to very heavy rainfall in certain areas. Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to rise slightly.
