Progressive Liberation Platform (PLP) will host an event at the Shaheed Minar in Dhaka On 15 September to celebrate the International Day of Democracy and the monumental success of the Monsoon Revolution, which led to the ousting of dictator Sheikh Hasina.
This gathering will pay tribute to the bravery and resolve of those who actively participated in the protests and played a crucial role in a historic revolution that heralded a new era for Bangladesh, said a press release.
July Uprising, which saw widespread demonstrations across the country, culminated in the end of Hasina’s regime, widely criticised as authoritarian. The PLP considers this watershed moment the dawn of "Bangladesh 2.0," presenting a unique opportunity to rebuild the nation on the pillars of democracy, freedom, and prosperity.
It aims to unite citizens from all segments of society in pursuit of a shared vision for a better Bangladesh.
The programme will feature speeches by prominent figures, including Sara Hossain, Sakib Pratyay, Sajib Tusar, Sarwar Tusar, Nowshin Noor, Nazifa Jannat, Muntasir Rahman, and many other emerging voices. They will address the importance of political rights, encouraging citizens to stand for justice and openly discuss issues that have been suppressed over the past 15 years.
Progressive Liberation Platform urges citizens, activists, and supporters of the movement to attend the event, engage in meaningful dialogue, and contribute to shaping the nation’s future.
The event seeks to build momentum for the "Bangladesh 2.0" initiative, a comprehensive blueprint for national reform and societal advancement.
