GM Quader said today agents of the ruling party have been inserted into the Jatiyo Party, who belong to this party but do politics of another party.
"Whenever we strive to do righteous politics, efforts are made to fracture our party and create a new one. It is the government that orchestrates these actions to prevent us from conducting independent politics," said the Jatiyo Party chairman during a programme commemorating his birthday at his Banani office.
GM Quader, also serving as the opposition leader in the 12th parliament, added, "These infiltrators benefit from various opportunities within our party but engage in politics that align with the ruling party's agenda."
"Previously, even though we were parasites, we had a choice. We could align ourselves strategically. Now, we find ourselves trapped with limited options," he lamented.
Quader continued, "Every time we attempt to engage in legitimate politics, interference arises. Someone makes a call and the government extends support, receives media coverage."
He expressed concern that the Jatiya Party is becoming increasingly fragile, grappling with the dilemma of prioritizing saving the party or the politics.
"We are unable to expel those who engage in politics aligned with other parties," Quader said, urging the government to refrain from monopolizing the country's politics.
"Allow political parties to operate freely. It would not bode well for the nation if the government dismantles all opposition parties and establishes single-party dominance," he emphasised.
