BNP leader Altaf Hossain gets bail, no bar to release

BNP vice chairman Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury secured bail in the case filed over the attack on the Chief Justice's residence during the 28 October clashes last year.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin's court granted the BNP leader bail after a hearing on Thursday (22 February).

Altaf Hossain Chowdhury's lawyer Taherur Islam Tauhid said that there is no obstacle to the former home minister’s release from prison as he has been granted bail in all cases filed again him.

RAB arrested Altaf Hossain Chowdhury from Uttara in the early hours of 4 November last year.

Dhaka CMM Court rejected Altaf Hossain Chowdhury's bail application on 5 November and ordered him to be sent to jail.

The BNP leader has been in prison ever since.
