Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said their government is not waiting for recognition from any external entity.

"There is no reason to believe that we are awaiting recognition from anyone, like Trickster, and an elected government does not find itself in a condition of bankruptcy," Obaidul Quader said during a press briefing at the Awami League President's office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, on Sunday.

"As per the norms of democracy, congratulations are given when someone is elected as the prime minister. Everyone is congratulating as per the norms. There is nothing new," he said.

Critiquing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Quader remarked, "BNP is burning with envy. Despite their non-participation in the election, a significant number of people elected Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister. BNP is now envious of this fact."

"As a patriotic government, the Awami League is actively taking steps to control commodity prices. If BNP engages in violent activities under the guise of protest, law enforcement agencies will respond accordingly. Awami League will also address them politically," he added.

Quader highlighted that BNP's alleged movements are contributing to the deterioration of the country's democratic culture.

"BNP has the right to peacefully present political programs. However, if, in the name of movement, they resort to terrorist activities, as witnessed on October 28th and thereafter, leading to the destruction of state property, harm to people, and disruption of public security, then law enforcement will take appropriate action," warned Obaidul Quader.
