BNP is collapsing as a party due to its political bankruptcy, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said.

“Not united, BNP is being crushed under the weight of political bankruptcy. Because they indulged in destructive activities before the 12th National Assembly elections without regard to political norms,” he said in a statement sent to the media on Wednesday (13 March).

“BNP was called for dialogue by the president and the Election Commission, but they did not respond. Rather, they made all-out efforts to thwart the elections,” he added.

Obaidul Quader said the government is running the country according to the people’s wishes.

“The 12th national parliament election was held through the spontaneous participation of the people. Being elected by the people of Bangladesh, the current government is managing the country according to the people's wishes. There is no democratic and constitutional crisis in the country,” he added.

“The Awami League government under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to empower the people and strengthen democracy. There is no crisis before the nation now, for which there is any necessity or need for dialogue between political parties,” Quader said.

He also said that Awami League is always committed to the fair development and development of democracy.
