Awami League (AL) extends a hand of friendship to foreigners but does not do politics following their orders, AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said.

“The current government has been elected by the people's vote. As public representatives, our responsibility is only to the people. We have friendly relations with other countries,” he said before a meeting at the AL central office in Gulistan on Monday (11 March 11).

“Bangladesh has been established as a prestigious country in the world. Our reputation as a self-reliant nation is well-established throughout the world,” he added.

The AL leader deemed the BNP as a politically defeated party.

“They are gradually slipping away, leaving the people of the country and giving way to foreigners. It is dishonourable to the country to complain to foreigners, yet they continue to do so,” he said.

Obaidul Quader said a vested quarter is spreading rumours about the election in home and abroad.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has proved herself as a capable manager even in today's world of conflict and crisis. Foreigners have praised Sheikh Hasina's leadership and reiterated their desire to work closely with her,” he further said.
