The High Court (HC) has denied the bail petition of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case over the attack on the chief justice's residence during clashes at the party's rally on 28 October last year.
The HC bench of Justice Md Salim and Justice Shahed Nuruddin passed the order on Wednesday (10 January).
"The decision to go to the appellate division of the court will be made after consulting with Mirza Fakhrul," Fakhrul's lawyer, Zainul Abedin, told reporters today.
Earlier on 7 December last year, the HC bench refused to grant him bail but issued a rule asking the state to explain why Fakhrul should not be granted bail in the case.
