Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has extended his heartfelt greetings to all Hindu citizens of the country on the occasion of Durga Puja.

In a message sent to the media on Tuesday (8 October), Dr Yunus conveyed his warm wishes to the Hindu community in observance of the festival.

Dr Yunus remarked that Durga Puja is no longer just a celebration for the Hindu community but has evolved into a universal festival. The essence of the Sharadiya Durga festival lies in the triumph of good over evil and the pursuit of truth and beauty.

He further urged everyone to remain united, upholding communal harmony, and collectively strive for a hunger- and poverty-free, prosperous Bangladesh, inspired by the values of inclusivity and opposition to discrimination.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s history of communal harmony, the chief adviser reiterated that the constitution guarantees equal rights for people of all religions and ethnicities.

"This country belongs to all of us," he said, noting that regardless of religion or race, Bangladesh is a safe haven for everyone.

Referring to the interim government formed following the unprecedented student-worker-people uprising on 5 August, Dr Yunus stressed that the administration is committed to ensuring equal rights and improving the fortunes of all citizens, irrespective of their religion, ethnicity, or group.

He expressed his hopes for the peace, welfare, and prosperity of all citizens of Bangladesh.
