BNP is active in implementing a master plan to destroy the country, said Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader in a statement sent to the media.
"Military dictator Ziaur Rahman seized power unconstitutionally and illegally and established BNP in army camp. Since its inception, BNP has been playing politics by blocking the democratic rights of the people of the country," he said in a statement sent by AL Office Secretary Biplab Barua on Thursday (29 February).
Claiming that the allegations of indiscriminate arrest and harassment of opposition actiists by the law and order forces are baseless, he said, "The arrest of those who are involved in arson and attacks on state assets and people cannot be harassment in any way."
"It is the responsibility and duty of law enforcement authorities to bring terrorists to justice. Security of life and property of people of Bangladesh has been established," he added.
"The people of the country are living more comfortably than ever before. We will work for the peace, security and prosperity of the people of the country at any cost," Obaidul Quader further said.
