Medical services have resumed at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital, along with all other government hospitals and medical colleges across the country, following the withdrawal of all protest programmes initiated in response to attacks on doctors.
The resumption of services began on Wednesday (4 September).
In a press conference held on the evening of Tuesday (3 September), the announcement was made by Dr Abdul Ahad, a resident doctor in the Neurosurgery Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
During the announcement, the doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital revealed that the Health Adviser Noorjahan Begum, had agreed to deploy health police at the hospitals.
Additionally, the adviser requested more time to draft the Health Protection Act.
Dr Md Abdul Ahad said that a four-member team representing doctors and students had met with the health secretary on Tuesday.
In the meeting, they engaged in detailed discussions on four pre-determined demands.
Furthermore, he added that the meeting also addressed various discrepancies in healthcare services, including cadre discrimination and issues related to the referral system.
