A self-serving faction is engaging in a disinformation campaign, using the name of the anti-discrimination student movement to spread false accusations against mainstream media, said the Chief Adviser's Office.
"The student protest leaders have informed the office of the chief adviser that such propaganda letters or lists are fraudulent and have urged the public not to be misled by them," said a press release on Sunday (25 August).
The claim is that these media outlets have neither supported nor cooperated with the student movement and are being urged not to offer any assistance, it added.
Media organisations are threatened with disgrace, dismissal, and professional ostracism should they choose to support the movement, the statement further said.
