A murder case was lodged against Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan at Adabor Police Station in Dhaka on Thursday (22 August), relating to the death of a garment worker during the mass protest on 5 August.
The case names former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, along with several top former ministers and lawmakers, among the 147 accused, said Adabor Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nazrul Islam.
Shakib, a former Awami League lawmaker, is listed as the 28th accused in the First Information Report (FIR).
The complaint was filed by Rafiqul Islam, father of the deceased MD Rubel, who has also accused at least 400 unidentified Awami League leaders and activists.
According to the statement in the case, some of the accused, either directly or indirectly following orders from others, fired shots during the protest at Ring Road in the Adabor area on 5 August.
The shooting resulted in critical injuries to Rubel, who succumbed to his wounds in hospital two days later.
