Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds reaching up to 60 kilometres per hour in Dhaka and 12 other districts by 1:00pm Sunday (18 August).
The districts include Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.
According to meteorologist Md Bazlur Rashid, the storms are expected to be driven by south or south-eastern winds, causing temporary squalls and heavy rainfall.
Consequently, the department has advised river ports in these areas to hoist cautionary signal number one.
