Top officers in SB, CID reassigned in major police shake-up

In a major reshuffle, the Bangladesh Police has transferred and reassigned 39 officers, including the heads of the Special Branch and the Criminal Investigation Department, through official notifications

In a significant reshuffle within the Bangladesh Police, 39 officers, including the heads of the Special Branch (SB) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), have been transferred and reassigned.

The move was formalised through two separate notifications issued by the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday (13 August).

 

The notification states that Md Monirul Islam has been relieved of his duties as the chief of the Special Branch and reassigned to the Police Headquarters.

Similarly, Mohammad Ali Miah, previously the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, has also been transferred to the Police Headquarters.

 

In addition to these key changes, several other senior officers have been reassigned.

 

Additional IGP Tawfiq Mahbub Chowdhury of the Dhaka Police Headquarters has been appointed as the Additional Inspector General of the Police Bureau of Investigation. Mohammad Ali Miah, who previously headed Dhaka CID, has been appointed as Additional Inspector General at the Police Headquarters. Other notable appointments include Mohammad Anwar Hossain as Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) of Khagrachari's APBN and Specialised Training Centre, and AFM Anjuman Kalam as ADIG of the Criminal Investigation Department. Additional DIG Md. Kamrul Ahsan, Commandant of Chattogram RRF Shahjada Md Asaduzzaman, and several other senior officers have been reassigned to key positions in Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
