After five-day work abstention, the protesting policemen announced that members of Bangladesh Police will rejoin work from Monday (12 August).

The decision of withdrawal of the strike was taken in a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Brigadier General (Retired) M Sakhawat Hussain on Sunday (11 August).

Representatives of the protesting police members Zahidul Islam (Police Inspector) and Shoaib Ahmed (Constable) confirmed the withdrawal decision to the media after the meeting.

They said that policemen will rejoin workplaces on Monday as most of the demands they placed to the government will be realised.

Zahidul is the main coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Central Coordination Committee of Bangladesh Police.
