Under the banner of Bangladesh's minority communities, the Hindu community blocked the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, presenting a four-point demand aimed at ensuring their safety on Friday.

Their four-point demands are the formation of a Ministry for Minority Affairs, the establishment of a Minority Protection Commission, the enactment and implementation of strict laws to prevent all forms of attacks against minorities, and the allocation of 10% of parliamentary seats for minorities.

In a press release issued during the blockade, the minority groups stated that violence erupted across the country on August 5, the day Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left for India amid widespread protests and public outrage. The violence targeted various communities, including the minority Hindu population, whose homes, businesses, and temples were attacked. Several Awami League offices, leaders' homes, and businesses were vandalised and set on fire, including properties belonging to Hindu leaders of the party.
