All police stations across the country will commence operations within the next 24 hours, an Inter Services Public Relations Directorate press release said.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by army chief General Wakar-uz-Zaman at Army Headquarters on Thursday (8 August).

The meeting was attended by the chiefs of navy and air forces as well as the newly appointed IGP, RAB DG and DMP Commissioner.

"During the discussions, it was decided that within the next 24 hours, all police stations across the country will commence operations with the support of the military," reads the press release.

The meeting urged everyone to cooperate in this crucial effort to restore peace and order in the country.

The press release stated in a decisive move to restore stability in the face of ongoing unrest, arson, and destructive activities, the heads of the country's armed forces and other law enforcement agencies had resolved to take a firm stance.
