President Mohammed Shahabuddin has ordered the police to take stern action to stop anarchy and looting in the country.
The president gave the order during a courtesy call by newly appointed Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam on Wednesday (7 August).
Congratulating the IGP, the president said, "The role of the police is very important in maintaining law and order and ensuring the security of people and their property."
"It is crucial to normalise the law and order situation in the country now, and the police must achieve this," he added.
