In a significant reshuffle, four senior police officials have been transferred following the termination of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun's contractual appointment.

Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman, who was previously attached to the police headquarters, has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). 

In other changes, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the CID, Mohammad Mainul Hasan, has been assigned as the acting Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Barrister Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, the former DG of RAB, has been appointed as an Additional IGP at the police headquarters, while DMP Commissioner and Additional IGP Habibur Rahman has also been reassigned to the police headquarters.

The transfers were formalised in an order signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mahabubur Rahman Sheikh of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (7 August), under the President's directives.

The order has been issued in the public interest and is to be implemented immediately.
