Nurul Haque Nur, President of the Gono Odhikar Parishad and former Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), has been granted bail in two cases related to sabotage at Setu Bhaban and the Dhaka Metro Rail.

The bail was granted on Tuesday (6 August) afternoon by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Md. Haider Ali and Mohammad Nurul Huda Chowdhury, following a hearing.

Nur's lawyer, Khademul Islam, confirmed the news, stating that Nur has received bail in both cases against him and is expected to be released later today.

On July 21, the court had granted a five-day remand for Nur in the case concerning the attack at Setu Bhaban in Banani. Following the completion of his remand on July 26, he was sent to jail.

During his remand, Nur had remarked to journalists that 90 percent of the Awami League government's foundation had been shaken, and that the government would collapse with a further 10 percent push.
