The government has stepped back from its decision to include employees of universities, self-governing, autonomous, state-owned, constitutional, or similar organisations in the Pratyay Scheme under the universal pension scheme.
The Finance Division issued a notification regarding the cancellation on Saturday (3 August).
Teachers, officials, and employees from various public universities across the country have been on an indefinite strike since 1 July, demanding the cancellation of the universal pension scheme’s Pratyay programme, among three other demands.
The new initiative introduced by the government in the universal pension system was the 'Pratyaya' scheme. It was proposed that employees of over 400 self-governing, autonomous, state-owned, constitutional, or similar institutions across the country be compulsorily included in this scheme.
