The much-anticipated hearing on a writ petition seeking the release of six coordinators who were detained by the Detective Branch (DB) and a directive not to shoot at protesters, has again been delayed
A division bench of the High Court, comprising Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and another judge, was scheduled to hear the case on Thursday (1 August).
However, due to one of the judges being ill, the bench could not be constituted.
Earlier on Wednesday (31 July), the hearing was also postponed due to the illness of the judge.
Lawyers and journalists had gathered in significant numbers at the High Court, anticipating a crucial development in the case.
However, they were informed that the hearing had been adjourned.
The quota reform movement has sparked widespread protests across the country. The movement has highlighted concerns over the reservation system in government jobs and educational institutions. The petitioners have argued that the detention of the coordinators and the potential use of force against protesters are violations of fundamental rights.
As the legal battle over the quota reform continues, all eyes remain on the judiciary for a resolution to this pressing issue.
