Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her statement about the quota issue for the descendants of freedom fighters has been misrepresented.

"I did not call the students Razakars, my statement was distorted. They called themselves Razakars," she said during her visit to the BTV headquarters in Rampura, Dhaka, on Friday (26 July).

During her inspection of the vandalised and charred BTV Bhaban, which was attacked by miscreants under the guise of quota reform protests, the prime minister expressed concern over the widespread destruction.

The premier stated that those responsible for the rampage in Rampura are hiding among the populace, and she called on the public to help identify the attackers.

Highlighting a conspiracy to damage national assets, PM Hasina mentioned that a particular group is conducting a propaganda campaign abroad to tarnish the country's image.

She appealed to the citizens to assist in identifying the individuals involved in the acts of violence.
