Anti-quota protesters have announced a nationwide rally at 3:00 PM on Tuesday (16 July) across all educational institutions, responding to recent assaults on students allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) members and demanding quota reforms.

Nahid Islam, a coordinator of the quota reform protests, declared the rally while addressing journalists Monday night at Doel Chattar, Dhaka University.

He said they will organise rallies and processions nationwide at 3:00pm on Tuesday (16 July)

He further alleged, "Outsiders, aided by the government and administration, have attacked us, injuring over two hundred students."

"We were hopeful that the Prime Minister, upon returning from China, would support our quota movement. Instead, her remarks mocked our cause. We demand a retraction of her statement," Nahid added.

Asif Mahmud, a student at Dhaka University, criticised university officials, stating, "The Vice-Chancellor and Proctors have failed to ensure the safety of our female students. We demand their resignation."

The clash erupted when protesting students and BCL members confronted each other, resulting in injuries to over 200 people, most of whom were anti-quota protesters.
