Earlier, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) had stated that any police action on the DU campus requires the Vice-Chancellor's permission. DMP's Joint Commissioner of Police (Operations), Biplab Kumar Sarkar, emphasized that police involvement at DU is contingent on authorization from the university administration. "We will consult with the university administration; if they request any assistance from the police, it will be provided," he added.
